Get Involved
Food Boxing/Mobile Food Pantry
Each Saturday, volunteers meet at The Narrow Door warehouse to help load and distribute food boxes to families in our local community. *The food boxes are filled every 3rd and 4th Wednesday with nutritious food, including: fresh fruits and vegetables, eggs, meat, breads and canned goods. Rather than having our families come to us, we go to them door-to-door. This gives us the opportunity to develop relationships, truly learn about their concerns/needs and allows us to pray for them. Currently we are serving from 600-1200 families a month; that is 3000 to 6000 people.
*Please check our calendar for scheduled food boxing days.
The Refuge/Church in the Park
Wednesday evenings volunteers gather at Miles Park. There are several churches involved that come together to worship, present a gospel message and provide food for the working poor that stay in and around the park. A clothing exchange is available and hygiene kits are given out. Tuesday through Friday a Men's Bible Study is offered and there are plans to start a Women's Bible Study.
Mobile Food Kitchens
Every Tuesday, we go out to the homeless camps in the Indio area and deliver a hot meal to those living on the streets. They are offered not only a meal but clothing, blankets and prayer. We serve around 70 members of our homeless community weekly.
Christmas Store
In 2000, the CV Christmas Store came to life! As of 2010, it has now come under the umbrella of The Narrow Door. CVCS brings Christmas to the less fortunate that would otherwise go without. Each family is given the opportunity to shop for their children in age and gender appropriate rooms. They are also offered information on nearby churches, prayer and a box of food filled with holiday fixings.
Other Serving Opportunities
